It’s that time of year again. This isn’t just a long Memorial Day weekend — it is also time for the 101’st running of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing!
In honor of this I thought it would be fun to see if there are any 360° YouTube videos that give a sense of what it’s really like to be there in person.
Honestly, nothing I found can “really” communicate the feeling of being there (yet). The sound and vibration of the engines as well as the tension of the situation are something you just need to be there to get.
However, I did a couple of cool videos made by USA Today last year that do a better job of giving the feeling of “being there” than you will get from watching TV, so turn up your video and sound, then check these out!
These are 360° YouTube videos — press and hold to explore!
Scott Dixon’s qualifying record promises to make year’s race particularly interesting to watch.
Scott Dixon wins Indy 500 pole at better than 232 mph (Scott Horner, Indy Star)
Scott Dixon wins Indianapolis 500 pole with fastest speed in 21 years (Jim Ayello, USA Today)
Enjoy, and have a great, safe holiday weekend!
