The summer blockbuster season is still in full swing, and this week’s big news maker is the sixth installment of Mission Impossible. Of course, as was the case for each of the earlier movies in the franchise, the stunts in the movie are grabbing a lot of attention.
That’s because Tom Cruise believes in two things.
First, he believes in using what is known in the movie business as practical effects. In laymen’s terms, that means that he films stunts rather than adding them with computer graphics.
Second, he believes in doing his own stunts.
These two things add up to authentic, adrenaline inducing action sequences on screen.
They also tend to result in some mind-boggling behind-the-scenes featurettes.
Before we get into new stunts, here’s a two minute survey of the most iconic past stunts compliments of ET Canada.
Here’s the featurette about Cruise hanging off of a plane.
The newest installment in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, does not break the tradition of upping the wow factor of the stunt sequences. However, it’s introduced a new tool for sharing the fear factor in the behind-the-scenes segment. Hold on to your seat, because this time they made a 360° video of the helicopter stunt that is the garnering the most attention for this movie.
There’s no 360° video for the second most talked-about stunt in the movie, but it’s a doozie!
Oh, the movie is getting some great reviews, too.
